Healthy UND 2020
Healthy UND 2020 is a bold, new initiative that aims to set health priorities that will help guide wellness efforts on our campus for the next ten years. President Robert Kelley and Vice President for Student and Outreach Services Robert Boyd launched the Healthy UND 2020 initiative in April of 2009 with a series of presentations by Jim Grizzell, MBA, MA, CHES, Healthy Campus Promoter. His sessions explored the links between health and wellness and academic performance. A health and wellness opinion survey was conducted to obtain input from faculty, staff and administrators and seven student focus groups were organized. The president has appointed a broad based steering committee to develop a Healthy UND 2020 Action Plan and recommendations. This committee is composed of 25 students, faculty and staff members.
Members will be asked to share their ideas and expertise to move the committee’s work forward, and also to act as liaisons for their student organizations and to share information and gather input and feedback. This work will require a one- to two-year commitment, with the committee meeting monthly during the fall and spring semesters.
President Robert Kelley stated:
“In creating a campus-wide approach to health and wellness issues, we can increase the likelihood that students achieve academic and personal success by pursuing a high quality of life and sense of well-being.”
